Open Day 2004

This year's Open Day again drew the crowds from around Fife with outdoor stalls and events along with several informative displays and exhibitions inside.  The Dog and Fun Training Team Display (D.A.F.T.) put on an excellent display on the back green whereas the traditional bouncy castle, face painting and charity stalls held court around the front.

Inside the building visitors had access to the areas of the practice normally out of bounds to the public and were treated to a number of special presentations.  Angus and Susan held an ultrasound demonstration in the imaging room while Neil and Dawn put on a fascinating display revolving around vision in the operating theatre.  Head nurse Linda was on hand to give out information on the many roles the vet nurse plays within the practice and Shirley put on an impressive rabbit exhibition.

Partner Jarlath was present along with Border Terrier 'Midge' and Dobermann 'Bruno'.  'Midge' needed a blood transfusion following surgery whilst Bruno underwent major orthopaedic surgery after being kicked by a horse.  Former nurse at the practice Isla Hargreaves was present and on hand to illustrate and give out information on hydrotherapy in dogs.

On the whole over £700 was raised by the public which will all go to local pet charities.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank the SSPCA, Therapet, Home A Dog Association (HADA) and the PDSA for coming along and supporting us as always.  Thanks to 'Clowns r us' who donated their time to do the face painting.

A big thank you also to all of the people who came along and helped make the day the success it was.  If you missed us this year, keep your eyes peeled for next year's date since every year brings along new people and new ideas.
